Keith and I got engaged this summer :)
It was a warm Saturday Night, we were drinking Corona's and hanging in the backyard. At the time we had one bike, and we were taking turns riding under streetlights. While Keith was in the distance, I thought a lot about our long journey and how we always come back to each other.
As he road up to me, the words came out of me without plan but with pure and total intention. "Keith, will you marry me?"
He said, "I love you too Leigh-Ann", and I said, "No, I'm serious". hah, romantic ;)
I heard a gasp of breath in the sweetest way and immediately he said, "Yes". We hugged and giggled in front of Cathy's garage, under a street light in our back lane. Keith put down the bike, kneeled on one knee and proudly asked me back. I said YES and the butterflies were incredible.
We kissed lots, and I kept jumping up & down and blurting out all the things on my mind... then we rode the bike a bit more, totally soaring! While Keith was riding, I was in the yard with Lola & Tom and I pulled my iPhone out of my pocket and realized a lil' bonus magic had happened! I'd set my voice memo on record at the beginning of our night (I do this sometimes to enjoy tipsy talk the next day) and our whole proposal had been recorded. It sounds like the local interview parts of NPR's This American Life... wow. I kept it recording and spoke my love to Keith and the dreams and joy he's given me. When he got back, I excitely told him how our engagement audio had been recorded (!!) and asked him to leave me a message too while I was off riding.
We have the most incredible night saved forever and I know for certain, our future is together :) I couldn't be happier and I love where we are :)
Last night I was listening to Tegan and Sara's "Love they Say" on headphones while my sweetie slept beside me. The lyrics are our story and I grabbed a dry erase marker, writing on the mirror in the dark, wanting Keith to read it when we woke up.
I've decided this is the song I want to walk down the aisle to... of course :)
