While setting up a recent blog banner photoshoot, I needed to make the coffee cup in the photo cuter. I added this paperheart string to the teabag and wanted to share because it could make everyones teatime more sweet! It would also be a fun hostess gift if you put 3 specialty teas with special strings in a tiny matching envelope :)
Hope you enjoy this quick and easy DIY :)
You will need cute paper, needle, embroidery thread, gluestick, pencil, scissors, teabags (i like red rose) and if you have, a piercing tool or thumbtack.
1// Fold your paper goodside in and draw a heart or shape with the bottom along the fold.
2// Cut out the shape, both layers at once.
3// Dab glue on the inside of one heart, placing an 8" piece of embroidery thread before you connect the two hearts. This will be your connection to the teabag.
4// Pre-poke two holes in the shape to make stitching super easy :)
Note: I tried using a regular stapler at first but it mangles the heart which is a bad look and feeling ;)
5// Using two strands of embroidery thread, stitch your heart together like a button. This technique will make it extra easy :)
6// Using the single string between the shape layers, determine the length you'd like for your teabag string and stitch it onto the teabag, knot and trim tail.
