Hi, I'm Michelle from Scissor Quirk - here to bring you a little pop-culture fun!
Being a fellow-Canadian, LA and I bonded over our love of a show called 'Mantracker' a while back (that I'm not even sure is shown across the border, for you - lol) - basically, this grumpy old tracker hops on his horse and a team of two people try to get by him undetected in the wilderness to the finish line over two days.
Anyhoo - it was highly entertaining (and often followed by the even-more-crazy 'Survivorman'), but it's since been cancelled - *sniff* - and I have to say, I no longer watch a lot of tv. I mean, apart from the occasional 'Vampire Diaries' and an 'Off The Map' episode here and there, I usually watch most of my tv on dvd, now! It's so nice to see it all back-to-back, I think - I find it hard to tune in the same day of the week, week after week.
So if you're looking for a new show to fall in love with (as I always am), I thought I'd share some of my favorite (both old and newish) TV picks here, for you. Here we go:
One of my all-time favorite shows: an oldie, but a goodie - it's worth buying on dvd if you missed the hijinks, crushes, and awkward moments of these guys when they were on air in the late '90's. Plus, James Franco, Seth Rogan, and Jason Segel before they were famous, too! And, ohmygosh - Bill!
Big Bang Theory
I'm sure you've seen it, but if not - you must!! It's so nerdy, you'll fall in love - best to watch from the first episode, on.
The Walking Dead
I found this short AMC series recently when I was craving a zombie flick and it didn't disappoint! The zombie effects are really cool - it's not cheesy at all, in fact, it's kinda scary!
Daria
Is there a more loveable cynic? I don't think so. I loved her on MTV back in the day, and I still do!
True Blood
I'm a fan of the Charlaine Harris books & Anna Paquin & vampires, so I was an easy sell. The first few episodes with Bill + Sookie will have you hooked, though! I'm still only done Season 2, but the wait is delicious.
Life As We Know It
I fell in love with this teen dramedy when two episodes aired and then it was cancelled - it's a throw-back to high-school, and it's so awkward and a little OC-like, but it rocks - I love the frank and laugh-out-loudness of everything.
Sons of Anarchy
I'm in *love* with this motorcycle show - it's totally gory and downright violent at some points, but it's awesome. Addictive, for sure - and mister husband watches it with me, too! Not to mention some cute boys and Peg Bundy's Katey Sagal as the ultimate tough chick.
Clone High
This cartoon for teens was banned in Canada when I was in highschool, so I have the best memories of newly-downloaded episodes watched giggly and secretively on a friends' computer - it's so, so funny and has a great MTV soundtrack, too - and even an appearance by John Stamos! There was a petition to keep it going in the early 2000's, it was that good.
I hope you guys are intrigued by some of my favorites and find something new to watch, if you're craving it! I own most of these and sometimes even listen to them again and again in the background while I'm working - they're so great!
What's your favorite TV show? Old or new...
xo, Michelle
